Sevilla very close to completing signing of an Arsenal star

Sevilla are closing in on the signing of Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, with talks progressing towards a potential loan move with a view to a permanent transfer. The 24-year-old Belgian, who returned to Arsenal after a loan spell at Luton Town last season, is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

The proposed deal is understood to include an initial loan with performance-related clauses that could turn the temporary move into an obligation to buy. This structure would allow Sevilla to assess Lokonga’s abilities and suitability for their squad before committing to a permanent transfer.

While Lokonga struggled to make a significant impact at Luton, Sevilla believe his talent and potential make him a valuable addition to their squad. The Spanish club are seeking to bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season and see Lokonga as a suitable fit for their style of play.

If the deal is finalized, it would mark the end of Lokonga’s four-year stay at Arsenal. He joined the Gunners from Anderlecht in 2021 but failed to establish himself as a regular starter. This move to Sevilla could provide him with a fresh start and the opportunity to revive his career.
