Arsenal Open Talks with RB Leipzig Over Benjamin Šeško Transfer

Arsenal have officially begun negotiations with RB Leipzig over the potential signing of Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško, in a significant development in their pursuit of a top-class centre-forward. The Gunners are determined to bolster their attacking options this summer and are taking proactive steps to ensure they are not left scrambling in the final weeks of the window.

The club’s strategy is clear: make concrete progress on several striker targets simultaneously. This multi-pronged approach is designed to prevent any single negotiation from derailing their summer transfer plans. With a number of Europe’s top sides also monitoring Šeško’s situation, Arsenal know that moving early and decisively is key.

Šeško has long been admired by Arsenal’s recruitment team and manager Mikel Arteta. At just 21 years old, he has already shown the potential to develop into one of Europe’s elite forwards. Standing at 6’5” and boasting impressive pace, technique, and finishing ability, he offers a rare blend of attributes that Arsenal believe would thrive in the Premier League.

Negotiations with RB Leipzig are said to be progressing in the early stages, with the German club open to talks. While Leipzig previously pointed to Šeško’s €80 million release clause as the starting point for any deal, they are reportedly open to flexible payment structures, which could offer Arsenal more room to manoeuvre financially.

However, despite the ongoing discussions between the clubs, no personal agreement has yet been reached between Šeško and Arsenal. The striker remains focused on his current club for now, and any movement on his side of the deal is likely to depend on how quickly the clubs can settle on a transfer fee and contract terms.

Arsenal’s interest in Šeško is not new. The club made previous approaches for the striker, most notably in January and again in May 2024, but those efforts were rebuffed by Leipzig. Now, with Leipzig more open to doing business and Arsenal eager to finalise their summer plans early, a window of opportunity has opened.

This pursuit is part of a wider transfer strategy at Arsenal, where there is recognition that the team needs greater attacking output to compete at the highest level. The 2024/25 campaign ended with no Arsenal player reaching double figures for Premier League goals – a statistic that has alarmed both fans and club officials. Šeško is seen as a long-term solution to that problem.

Arsenal’s ambition this summer is to challenge for major trophies and build a squad capable of going deep into both domestic and European competitions. The addition of a dynamic, high-potential striker like Benjamin Šeško would be a major statement of intent.

While there is still work to do to bring the player to the Emirates, the fact that formal negotiations have begun marks a major step forward. Arsenal fans will now watch closely as the club looks to close in on what could be one of the most exciting transfers of the summer.
