Arsenal Fans Receive An Update On Eberechi Eze Deal

Arsenal’s summer transfer business is showing no signs of slowing down, with the club reportedly still closely monitoring opportunities in the market. Despite securing the high-profile signing of striker Viktor Gyökeres and bolstering several key areas of the squad, Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Andrea Berta remain focused on adding another offensive spark — and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze continues to feature prominently on their radar.

According to reports from The Athletic, Arsenal retain strong interest in Eze but are hesitant to meet his full £68 million release clause, preferring instead to negotiate a deal at a slightly lower figure. The 26-year-old England international has been a standout performer for Palace, and his explosive combination of dribbling, ball progression, and goal threat fits the profile of what Arsenal are looking for in a creative attacker.

An ideal stylistic fit

Mikel Arteta is believed to be a big admirer of Eze’s playing style, particularly his ability to operate in tight spaces, progress the ball through the middle, and deliver decisive actions in the final third. With Eze capable of playing as a left-sided forward, central attacking midfielder, or even in deeper roles, his versatility would offer a useful option in Arsenal’s evolving tactical system.

The Gunners have been exploring ways to enhance their attacking depth following inconsistencies in wide and creative areas last season. While Bukayo Saka remains undroppable on the right, and Martin Ødegaard continues to shine in his central role, the left-hand side has seen a rotating cast including Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz. Eze could bring something different — a ball-carrying, press-resistant option who adds unpredictability.

Crystal Palace stand firm

Despite Arsenal’s interest, Crystal Palace are in no rush to sell. The south London club have made it clear that any potential buyer must either trigger or closely match Eze’s £68m release clause. Palace consider Eze a key part of their project under Oliver Glasner and are under no financial pressure to let him go.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are weighing up their next move. While they are unlikely to trigger the full clause outright, they could test Palace’s resolve with a structured bid that includes add-ons or player swaps. The club is mindful of balancing the books after recent signings and may need to offload players before pursuing another marquee addition.

Arteta keeping cards close

Speaking recently about transfer plans, Arteta stated that the club is still open to opportunities, hinting that Arsenal are ready to act if the right player becomes available at the right price. Eze certainly fits the bill in terms of quality and profile, but negotiations with Palace could prove complex unless their stance softens.

With the transfer window still open for several more weeks, this is a situation that remains fluid. Arsenal’s interest in Eze is real, and while no formal offer has been submitted yet, talks behind the scenes are ongoing.

Should the Gunners decide to push forward, Eze could become the final big addition in what has already been an ambitious summer at the Emirates.
