Arsenal Plot Shock Move for Premier League Star — £68m Price Tag Won’t Stop Them!
Arsenal’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements continues to gather pace, with Eberechi Eze now one of the names firmly under consideration. Initial talks between Arsenal and Crystal Palace have already taken place, and the Gunners are fully aware of the terms they would need to meet in order to land the 26-year-old England international.
Crystal Palace have made their stance abundantly clear: any club wishing to sign Eze this summer must either trigger or match his £60 million release clause, with an additional £8 million in performance-related bonuses taking the total package to £68 million. It is a firm position, and one that reflects Palace’s growing confidence and leverage in the market, following another strong campaign from the player.
Arsenal, while impressed by Eze’s skillset, are not yet ready to meet those terms. Club officials are currently considering whether to make an opening offer at a lower figure to test Palace’s resolve and explore whether the London side might be open to a negotiated compromise. The Gunners are conscious of spending efficiency, particularly with other key targets — such as Viktor Gyökeres and a possible defensive addition — still requiring financial allocation.
Eze, who enjoyed an outstanding 2023/24 season under Oliver Glasner, remains one of the Premier League’s most exciting creative midfielders. His ability to glide past defenders, carry the ball in tight spaces, and contribute goals from deeper positions has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s recruitment team. His versatility, capable of playing both as a central attacking midfielder and from the left, would add further tactical depth to the Gunners’ attack.
However, Arsenal’s cautious approach stems not from a lack of appreciation, but rather strategic planning. The club has been focused on prioritising value-for-money signings, and while they are willing to invest in top-tier talent, they remain reluctant to overpay when other squad needs are still being addressed.
Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s new Sporting Director, is believed to be analysing the structure of a potential deal. Should Palace maintain their hardline stance, Arsenal may either walk away or attempt to include players as part of a makeweight to reduce the cash outlay. The idea of offering a promising youngster or fringe squad member could be explored to tempt Palace into negotiations.
As things stand, Eze is not pushing for a move, and Palace are under no pressure to sell — particularly after holding firm on Michael Olise earlier this summer. However, Arsenal’s interest is real, and with personal terms unlikely to be a problem, the ball is now in their court.
A formal bid could follow in the coming days, and it remains to be seen whether Palace’s public valuation is negotiable. For Arsenal, it’s about weighing risk against reward — and deciding whether Eze is the player worth breaking their internal valuation guidelines for.
